Recast is a vertical C2C marketplace for secondhand fishing gear built around an existing community and a founder with real influence in the angling world. The opportunity was clear, but the challenge was typical of early marketplaces: how to turn a passionate audience into active sellers, how to create early liquidity without paid acquisition, and how to launch a trust-heavy product fast enough to capture momentum. ONA partnered with Recast to structure the product direction, define the launch strategy, and execute the activation plan needed to get the first critical users listing, buying, and circulating the platform across Europe.

Recast had a unique advantage: a highly engaged angling community, a founder with real influence, and a product category people wanted to trade in. But building a C2C marketplace from zero still meant confronting the hard parts: – how to activate sellers fast – how to convert an audience into real marketplace liquidity – how to design a launch engine that didn't rely solely on the founder – and how to scale trust in a vertical where scams, low intent, and platform fatigue are common. The challenge wasn’t ideas — it was disciplined execution and speed.

Launch the marketplace quickly, onboard the first wave of sellers, and turn passive community members into active listers and buyers within months. Establish early liquidity, early trust, and early traction — fast enough to validate the model and justify further investment.
